we had a great stay at rothay house! the location is super close to town but still feels peaceful. breakfast was amazin, heaps of options and really delish. i loved the comfy feel of the place, and the tea/coffee facilities were a nice touch. parking was good too, which is always a bonus!
the entrance to the car park was kinda tight, which made arriving a bit tricky. also, the room felt a bit smaller than we expected.

Great garden space, but the room felt a bit tight for two of us.

Inviting outdoor spaces with excellent quality coffee served.
The entrance to the car park was quite cramped, making it a bit of a challenge when we arrived. our room, while nicely decorated, felt too small for two people, limiting our space significantly. Lastly, although we enjoyed the breakfast, I found it lacking in variety for extended stays. it was mostly the same each morning.

Recommend it for couples seeking a cozy getaway
We had a delightful surprise from our hosts on our anniversary. a fine bottle of wine waited for us in the room, a signature of their thoughtful service! And you gotta try their breakfasts, I mean the wife just loved the homemade bread, it was like a little slice of heaven on the plate each morning.

Had a lovely two-night stay where the breakfast was top-notch, and the warm hospitality made us feel right at home! We really enjoyed unwinding in the peaceful garden and soaking up the sun on the terrace. Just a heads up, the walls are a bit thin, so you might hear some noise from neighbors, but it didn’t ruin our time at all! 🌼

Had a fantastic group vacation! We enjoyed visiting the Steamboat Museum and exploring the local trails. Debbie and Darren were super welcoming, and breakfast was a treat each morning. The location was perfect for wandering into town, and free parking was a big bonus. Would definitely recommend staying here!
One downside was the room could be on the smaller side for those looking for more space.

Our visit was quite nice. The hosts made our stay enjoyable with their friendly service, and breakfast was satisfying with a lot of options. The location worked well for our hiking plans. We appreciated the free parking, especially being a family traveling with kids. One morning, we enjoyed a homemade breakfast while chatting with the hosts, feeling right at home.
The pillows were not to our liking. The entrance to the car park felt a bit tight.

It was just a good match for a quick layover in Ambleside with best value for money ratio. Enjoyed the nice sitting room next to our room, perfect for relaxing after a day out. Watch out for the tight turn into the car park, indicating early can help a lot.

great location but cramped car park
The location was fantastic, just a short walk from all the local attractions. I thoroughly enjoyed the clean and well-maintained garden view that created a relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast options were impressive, with dishes thoughtfully prepared to cater to different tastes.
The entrance to the car park felt a bit tight, making it tricky to navigate at times.
